The UWC Movement: An Overview

The UWC Movement 

UWC was established in 1962 after the cold war with the mission of offering young people a challenging and transformational educational experience based on experimental learning and understanding, with the hope of creating a more peaceful and sustainable world. UWC brings together students from a diverse range of cultures and socio-economic backgrounds to live and learn together in a supportive educational environment. With 15 colleges spanning the globe and 9000 unique and exceptional students graduating each year, the UWC movement truly is enormous!

UWC learning

UWC education aims to create transformational leaders for the greater good of the world. To do so, UWC students:
  • Get to learn and live with students from over 150 countries, with different perspectives and a strong desire to create an impact on the world
  • Get to study the International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma) which is a truly challenging and world renowned programme
  • Get to experience learning with experiential education taught by expert faculty from 5 continents
  • Get to go beyond books, into the social realm and practice the leadership skills they have learnt
